Transport Advisory Group Annual Report 2011

The Transport Advisory Group (TAG) has published its fifth annual report outlining its work in 2011.

TAG was established in 2006 to provide advice on strategy, objectives and priorities to the European Commission on developing the Transport theme of the Co-operation Programme of FP7.

TAG has recommended that some of these 'remaining gaps' should be addressed in the final FP7 Transport Work Programme and that topics of relevance to Horizon 2020 should be re-visited. New areas, such as the impact of socio-economic variables on transport needs or testing novel tools for e-services in freight transport, are also highlighted as important.

Priority topics, as recommended by TAG, include strengthening research co-operation among transport modes and ensuring that the electrification of road transport, rail development, sustainable waterborne transport and urban transport are all supported in the 2013 Work Programme, along with the greening of air transport, improving cost efficiency, customers' safety and pioneering the air transport of the future.
